Sleep Training

Click the picture to read about how challenging it was to get Legend to sleep in his own room. This was by far the hardest thing we had to endure during his first year. It involved hours and hours of screaming and crying and lots of sleepless nights.

The first night was pretty bad. Prior to sleep training Legend had been co-sleeping so we knew it was going to be a chore getting him to sleep in his own room after 10 months. We decided to start with his pack n play since it was a space he was familiar with.

Well Legend was not having it. We tried the “no cry” method but that didn’t work. He cried for almost two hours! After he was so exhausted from screaming he fell asleep. . . standing up!

When we would try to lay him down the process would start all over crying, screaming and then falling asleep standing up lol!

He was absolutely determined to show us who was in charge and he protested the very thought that we would have the audacity to try and make him sleep in his own room.

Night two was even worse! Same process as the night before but the crying lasted much longer. Not only did he refuse to lay down he slept standing up like the night before. However this time once he got tired of standing up he fell down and slept sitting up! Laying down was not an option!

Until he finally gave up. . .

The rest of the week got better and better each night. The crying eventually got less and less and now he sleeps in his own room like an angle. Sleep training was a success!

Finally!
